The decision is made. A lovely water feature is the next step in your backyard project. The big question haunting your dreams; should you do it yourself, or hire a professional? It’s a good question, and a tough decision. Here are some things to keep in mind to help make the decision easier
If you do it yourself, you get the bragging rights, the opportunity to showcase your talent and artistry, the kudos, and the pride of knowing that you did it yourself. However, you may be worried that you don’t know the right equipment to choose, (always Helix! 😉), or the jets may be positioned wrong, the filter is too small, you really needed a UV, and don’t put one in, and your fish may pay the price for your lack of knowledge. Maybe you will be using the wrong rock, the waterfall is in the wrong spot, or it might take you FOR- EVER!
As long as time frame is not the main concern, doing the build yourself is not really that difficult. It helps if you’re in decent shape, so you can heave those rocks around, but the technical aspect of it is really simple. If you’ve done any other DIY projects, this is likely going to be on the easier side of them, technically speaking. Also, when you get a kit from us, we include a hand drawn diagram, specific to your pond, detail drawings and pictures, video links, and above all, direct contact with us, here at Pond Digger Headquarters, to help your over any hurdles during the build.
If you choose to hire The Pond Digger crew, or another professional company, you can be sure that the project will be done right, in a timely manner, with the correct filtration, and you will enjoy it for years to come. Make sure the pro you select is familiar with the style of pond you want to build, and they have referrals to give you. (I’m sad to say, that pictures aren’t really good enough anymore, as people use images all the time from the internet, and claim it as their work) If they can take you to a couple of their jobs, then you can speak to the client, always a bonus. You can make sure they showed up on time, were clean and well mannered, and cleaned up after themselves before leaving each day. Remember, you are inviting these people into your home, so you should at least expect them to behave as well mannered guests.
Here’s the last tidbit I have for you. Even if you don’t want to do it yourself, but you’re too far away to hire us, and you’re still set on Helix Life Support Filtration equipment, you can hire a local contractor. When you purchase the kit from us, we will work with your contractor to answer his questions via texting, emails, and phone calls to make sure everything goes smooth with his installation.
Hopefully this will help make this difficult decision a little easier. Whether you decide to DIY this pond, or hire us, we will help make sure you are using the right equipment, and help to educate you so that the installation goes as smoothly as it can.
